I recently had the pleasure of photographing Karen Maher's gorgeous artwork. It was fun to do something a bit different and very cool to get to see her portfolio in person. She has some amazing pieces. I just love the bold colors and the texture of her paintings. Here are a few of my favorites. If you are interested in learning more about Karen's artwork please contact her by email at karenmaher@ameritech.net.
I love it when little kids compare their bellies to their mommy's pregnant belly. I love it even more when I can capture it. So cute. Tis the season for photographing past clients for me! I first worked with this family when Big Sister N was in her mommy's belly. Now she is a big girl and ready to be a big sister.
While the purpose of my visit was a maternity session, I couldn't resist doing some of N. all by herself.
I do not photograph a lot of pet only sessions, but this was a lot of fun. Meet Ipo (pronounced ee-po). He is just the sweetest dog you could ever meet. This sweet little guy just loves to hear is owner play the piano and sing. This session was wonderfully challenging for me in a number of ways. First of all, as I said, I don't do a lot of pet photography. Photographing a dog is not terribly differentt from photographing a toddler who is really only interested in doing his own thing. Ipo was extremely well behaved though and did a very good job of following directions. The second challenge was that our session was inside the new St. Claire Church in O'Fallon, IL. It was dark - very dark - so that provided some interesting lighting situations.
Here are some of my favorites...
One of my very favorite things about my job is getting to watch children grow up. I photographed Big Sister L when she was a newborn more than two years ago. I recently had the chance to meet and photograph her new little sister S. While I have photographed L since she was born, she seemed so much older this session. What a big girl she has become! And her baby sister - sigh - what a beautiful baby. She looks just like her big sister!

This family invited me to photograph them at their annual New Year's Eve dinner. This is no quickly-thrown-together, no big-deal dinner. This is a serious freshly flown in lobster and steak dinner and it is one big family enjoying it.
Here are just a small handful of the shots we got that day. (click to see the horizontal ones larger)
I've been working on my new website for the past few weeks and it is finally live. The url is the same www.speedoflifephotos.com. It has a lot of things that I love. First it is super easy to update so hopefully I will be updating my galleries a bit more often. It also has a calendar that I like so much more than the one I was using before. Finally, my client proofing is all on my new site as well. Clients will get a password protected gallery of their own and eventually I will probably include the ability to order online too (although I will still to do in person order appointments!).
Feedback is always welcome :)
Stay tuned becuase I have about 3 sessions I am in the middle of editing and have some fun new images to post here.
